Former Vols WR Jalin Hyatt avoided what would’ve been an awkward situation with the new Giants coaching staff

Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt hasn’t had a great start to his NFL career.

Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has had a frustrating start to his NFL career.

Hyatt, a third round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, showed promise as a rookie, catching 23 passes for 373 yards.

The former Vol, however, seemingly fell out of favor with the previous Giants’ coaching staff, catching just 13 passes for 97 yards over the last two seasons (24 games).

Hyatt barely received playing time this past season, often popping up as a healthy inactive on game days.

With a new coaching staff taking over in New York — former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was recently hired by the franchise — there’s some hope that Hyatt will get to experience a fresh start without leaving town.

Hyatt, the 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner, went viral ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft for a clip that showed then Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach Robert Prince questioning his ability to run routes.

Prince, who served as the Miami Dolphins’ wide receivers coach in 2025, interviewed for the Giants’ offensive coordinator job this past weekend.

If Prince had landed that gig, I can only imagine how awkward the first team meeting would’ve been (for him and for Hyatt).

Prince, though, was hired by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week. He’ll serve as the Falcons’ wide receivers coach.

We’ll see what happens with Hyatt this offseason. It’s possible that he’ll remain with the Giants, but it also wouldn’t be a surprise if he lands with a new team next fall. Either way, Hyatt just wants an opportunity to play.
