Tennessee Vols junior wide receiver Jalin Hyatt had a strong message for the rest of college football this week.
Hyatt, a former four-star recruit, met with reporters on Thursday to discuss his offseason and the Vols' work so far during fall camp.
The South Carolina native was asked about his decision to stay at Tennessee after a tough sophomore season.
While answering the question, Hyatt, who said he never considered leaving UT, made it clear how he feels about the Vols' offense in 2022.
He thinks it's going to be the best offense in the nation this season.
"This offense is going to be the best in the country, I can tell you that right now," said Hyatt.
Part of the reason Hyatt feels that way is because he's committed to playing to a different standard this season.
"This is the SEC," explained Hyatt. "We're the University of Tennessee. We have great guys here, great receivers here. Last year, it taught me well, but if you don't play to the standard where you need to be at, you're going to be on the side, you're not going to be playing. We're here at the University of Tennessee. There are great athletesand great receivers here."
"The reason why I work so hard is I want to do it for these teammates. I want their respect. I feel like when I go out there, especially this year, I feel like I'm the best slot in the country. That's what I want to do every day."
It's clear the Vols have a lot of confidence heading into the 2022 season. That's important. Confidence is key when it comes to winning on Saturdays in the SEC.
There's a fine line between confidence and overconfidence, but I don't think Tennessee is anywhere close to crossing that line. They know every week in the SEC is tough. They know each week will be a unique challenge. But this team is showing that they're more than up to that challenge.
