The Tennessee Vols are heavily pursuing five-star running back Zach Evans, the former Georgia signee who was released from his NLI earlier this month.
Evans visited Knoxville this weekend and discussed his thoughts about Tennessee with Rivals.
And he didn't give away much.
Evans told Rivals that "nothing really changed" during his visit, adding that he had interest in Tennessee before and he still has interest after the visit.
The Houston native noted that he's not afraid to compete and just wants to be developed at the next level.
It seems pretty clear that Evans' recruitment is going to be a wild right right up until he enrolls at a school this summer (he can't sign another NLI, which means he won't be bound to whichever school he commits to).
Fortunately for the Vols, they're in a good spot where they don't necessarily need Evans (they have plenty of capable running backs on the roster), so it's not going to mess up their 2020 recruiting plans if he goes elsewhere.
But with Evans having the potential to be a game changing talent, Tennessee is being smart to pursue him. Not only would landing Evans give them a dynamic playmaker who could be a star in the SEC, it would keep him away from rival SEC programs.
