The Tennessee Vols will reportedly host 2026 five-star cornerback Elbert Hill on an unofficial visit this weekend for UT's matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Hill, 5-foot-170 lbs from Akron, OH, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 cornerback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio. He's also rated as the No. 15 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The coveted defensive back included Tennessee among his top 10 schools in late September, along with Ohio State, USC, Oregon, Michigan, Texas A&M, Alabama, Notre Dame, UCLA, and Penn State
The assumption is that Hill will end up at Ohio State. It's tough to swipe elite cornerbacks out of Ohio, after all. But the Vols could give themselves a legitimate shot in this recruiting battle with a big performance this weekend against Kentucky. The atmosphere at Neyland is expected to be elite this weekend for the prime time showdown. Tennessee will be wearing its black uniforms, which always leads to a little more electricity in the air at Neyland.
A strong showing from Tennessee's defense in an electric atmosphere could certainly give Hill plenty to think about as he inches closer to a decision.
Stealing Hill from the Buckeyes would be a game changer for the Vols. Hill has future NFL starting cornerback talent. Landing him wouldn't just make Tennessee's roster better, but it would send a message to the rest of college football that the Vols are becoming one of the top destinations for elite recruits from coast to coast.
The secret to quickly unlocking Nico Iamaleava’s talent has been discovered, but Tennessee might not be willing to do it
Kinda a catch 22 for the Vols
