The Tennessee Vols will see an old friend in 2026.

On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Sunday evening that former Vols kicker Max Gilbert has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Tennessee and Arkansas will meet in Fayetteville on October 10 next fall.

Gilbert entered the transfer portal following a tough season at Tennessee.

The Memphis native connected on 14-of-19 field goal attempts, and he converted all 64 of his PAT attempts in 2025.

Gilbert, however, missed several critical kicks — the game-winner against Georgia, a 37-yard miss in the loss to Oklahoma, and a miss in the 30-28 loss to Illinois in the Music City Bowl.

“I think he heard a lot about it on social media, and I don’t think he was having a whole lot of fun,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price earlier this week. “I think he has been leaving since before the bowl game, in my opinion. But yeah, I don’t expect him to be back here. And I’d expect Tennessee to be in the market for a kicker.”

A fresh start could be all Gilbert needs to put some of his crunch time woes in the past.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is looking for a new kicker in the transfer portal.
