The Tennessee Vols’ big win against the Kentucky Wildcats featured a first for the Josh Heupel era
The Tennessee Vols had no issues on Saturday night against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington
The Tennessee Vols got back on track on Saturday night in Lexington against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Tennessee erased the bad taste of the tough loss to Alabama last weekend with a 56-34 win over Kentucky.
Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar passed for 396 yards and three touchdowns, and UT wide receivers Mike Matthews, Chris Brazzell, and Braylon Staley each went over 100 receiving yards.
Tennessee’s big win against Kentucky featured a first for the Josh Heupel era
The Vols’ 22-point win against the Wildcats is the first time during the Josh Heupel era that Tennessee has beaten Kentucky in Lexington by more than one score. UT won 45-42 in 2021 and 33-27 in 2023.
The last time Tennessee beat Kentucky by more than one score in Lexington was in 2015.
Tennessee has been dominant in this rivalry, but playing on the road in the SEC is never easy (just ask Texas, which had to go to overtime to beat UK in Lexington last weekend). The Wildcats may not be a very good team this season, but this was still a huge win for the Volunteers.
