The Tennessee Vols received some great news just after lunch on Thursday.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, 2027 three-star athlete Jaden Butler has committed to Tennessee.

Butler, 6-foot-1/190 pounds from Brownsville, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 36 athlete in the nation and the No. 23 player in the state of Tennessee.

The talented athlete also has offers from Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Duke, among others.

According to 247Sports, Tennessee is recruiting Butler to play defensive back.

“I’ll say I like the way, when I went there, how we connected, how they treated me and how things were looking up there,” said Butler to 247Sports last month of his interest in the Vols.

Butler was recently named the defensive back MVP at the Under Armour Next Football Camp Series stop in the St. Louis area.

“Butler owns tremendous playmaking instincts at the catch point, in part due to his extensive snaps on offense at the prep level,” noted 247Sports national scouting analyst Hudson Standish after Butler’s camp performance. “The Tennessee native also flashed during individual drills and possesses an ideal physical build for the safety position.”

Tennessee now has five players committed to its 2027 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 23 in the nation.
