Former Tennessee Vols baseball star Todd Helton, a recent baseball Hall of Fame inductee, showed he's a true VFL this past weekend via cool gesture toward a fellow former UT baseball standout.

On Sunday, former Tennessee RHP Chase Dollander made his MLB debut with the Colorado Rockies (Dollander was a first round selection by the Rockies in the 2023 MLB Draft).

Helton, who spent his entire MLB career with the Rockies, was in Denver this past week, but he wasn't supposed to be in town on Sunday. When Helton found out that Dollander was making his MLB debut on Sunday, the former Vol decided to extend his stay.

"Todd texted me yesterday (Saturday) and congratulated me and said he was extending his stay so he could watch me pitch, which I thought was really cool," said Dollander on Sunday. "I'm excited to see him and give him a hug and stuff like that."

Dollander pitched five innings against the Athletics while striking out six batters. The former Vol picked up the win in his big league debut after receiving some strong run support from the Rockies' lineup in a 12-5 win.
