NFL legend and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Tom Brady pointed out a former Tennessee Vols standout this week as one of the most underrated players in the NFL.
Brady is set to call the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Fox on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Brady joined The Herd with Colin Cowherd to preview the matchup between the 49ers and the Bucs.
During that interview, Brady referred to 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, a former Tennessee Vols standout, as one of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL.
"You still got (Jauan) Jennings, who, to me, is one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL," said Brady. "He performed so well in the Super Bowl. They have a ton of confidence in him."
Jennings doesn't get a lot of love from the national media — mostly because he doesn't usually put up gaudy numbers — but he's well-respected by his teammates.
Last season, 49ers linebacker Fred Warner called Jennings one of the best players he's ever played with.
49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel praised Jennings before the start of the 2024 season for being the team's most consistent receiver.
"Jauan has been the most consistent receiver that we have, day in and day out," said Samuel. "As far as blocking, going out and making plays — that's why we call it third-and-Jauan. But just coming in in better shape. Ball skills got way better. Every time you see Jauan out there, he's giving everything he's got [on] every route, every play."
San Francisco superstar tight end George Kittle made some similar comments about Jennings back in the summer.
"Anyone that watches tape, they look at Jauan's tape and go 'holy cow, this guy is one of one,'" said Kittle. "His mindset and his attitude when he's on a football field is completely different. He goes to that dark place that Coach (Kyle) Shanahan talks about…he is just very violent in the way that he plays the game — which you don't see in all receivers."
It's not a big surprise to hear Brady call Jennings one of the most underrated players in the NFL after hear how some of the game's biggest stars talk about the former Vol.
