The Tennessee Vols are expected to be somewhat active when the spring NCAA transfer portal window opens next month.
How active the program will be, however, will depend on which players enter the portal. The Vols, as has been the case under Josh Heupel, will be picky when it comes to potential transfer additions. They won't add just to add.
One player that Tennessee should consider pursuing is North Alabama cornerback Ashaad Williams, who recently entered the NCAA transfer portal (Williams is a graduate transfer which means he can enter the portal at any time).
Williams, 6-foot-2/178 lbs from Russellville, AL, has one year of eligibility remaining.
The Alabama native recorded two interceptions and 10 pass breakups last season. Williams has 54 total tackles in his career.
Several SEC programs are already showing interest in Williams. Arkansas and Ole Miss have offered Williams, as well as Purdue and Kansas (Williams will reportedly visit Arkansas this weekend).
Tennessee could use some cornerback depth with Jermod McCoy expected to miss at least part of the 2025 season with a torn ACL (McCoy tore his ACL in January and it's too early to forecast a potential return date for the All-SEC cornerback).
Cornerback is one of the toughest positions to find in the transfer portal, which is why the Vols should at least check in on Williams to see if the fit is a match.
Former Tennessee Vols QB Hendon Hooker’s situation with the Detroit Lions just got even worse
Not great for Hendon Hooker
