Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Trey Smith is a Super Bowl champion.

Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 on Sunday night in Arizona to win Super Bowl LVII.

After the game, Smith, a Jackson, TN native, spoke with TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt in the locker room and he had a message for fans back in Tennessee.

"Just the state of Tennessee, the love [that] Jackson, TN where I'm from, has shown," said Smith after the win. "The people back home, the University of Tennessee — where I helped grow myself and become a man. Extremely thankful for all the moments, all the people who impacted and touched my life and got me to this moment. I can't thank you guys enough."

Smith was a sixth-round draft pick by the Chiefs in the 2021 NFL Draft. That's turned out to be one of the biggest steals in NFL draft history. Smith, who fell in the draft due to health concerns over the blood clots he dealt with at Tennessee, quickly became a starter in Kansas City after being selected in the sixth round.

And not just a starter, a really good one. Smith, who started at right guard in the Super Bowl, was part of a Chiefs offensive line on Sunday night that held Philadelphia's dominant pass rush to zero sacks and only one tackle for loss.

Not bad a night of work for the Tennessee native. And now he has a Super Bowl ring he can show off to all of his old Vols teammates.
