Two former Tennessee Vols standouts received brutal news in week one of the NFL season.

According to multiple reports, former Vols offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James, who plays for the Baltimore Ravens, suffered a torn Achilles in his team's win against the New York Jets.

James, a first-round selection by the Miami Dolphins in the 2014 NFL Draft, will miss the rest of the season.

Former Tennessee defensive lineman Derek Barnett, a first-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft, also suffered a season-ending injury in week one.

Barnett, who is the Vols' all-time sacks leader, suffered a torn ACL in the Eagles' win against the Detroit Lions.

Hopefully these two will be able to fully recover from their injuries. It's certainly the last thing that either wanted to go through this season.
