You can count former Florida Gators/Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer among the folks who believe the SEC is no longer the best conference in college football.

Meyer, who won two national championships at Florida and one national championship at Ohio State, appeared on "Don't @ Me with Dan Dakich" this week and he suggested that not only is the SEC not the best conference in college football anymore, he doesn't even think it's the second best conference right now.

"The SEC is not the best conference in the country right now," said Meyer. "I don't think they're the second best conference in the country right now."

"I think the Big 10 is number one," added Meyer when asked which conferences are better than the SEC. "And you're going to love this, I think the Pac-12 is number two."

Meyer pointed out that he thinks USC and Washington are "for real" (Meyer seemed particularly impressed by Washington).

The SEC certainly isn't off to a great start this season. Alabama lost to Texas (the Longhorns are still a Big 12 team for a few more months), LSU lost Florida State, Florida lost to Utah, South Carolina lost to North Carolina, and Texas A&M lost to Miami.

For now, only one SEC team is ranked inside the top 10 and that's Georgia at No. 1 (by the way, the Bulldogs didn't look too great in their win against South Carolina last weekend).

There are three Big 10 teams and three Pac-12 teams currently in the top 10 (Texas from the Big 12, Florida State from the ACC, and Notre Dame are the other three teams in the top 10).

Based on the current rankings, Meyer isn't necessarily wrong. But there's still a lot of season to be played. We'll check back in December to see how Meyer's take on the SEC aged.
