A former Vanderbilt Commodores player who transferred to the Kentucky Wildcats this offseason threw some major shade at Nashville ahead of the start of the 2023 season.

Running back Ray Davis, a former three-star recruit, left Vanderbilt after the 2022 season and landed at Kentucky (Davis also previously played at Temple).

Davis recently spoke to Kentucky Sports Radio and he didn't hesitate to take a shot at the city of Nashville while answering a question about the cities in which he's played.

"I like Lexington because it's more low-key," said Davis. "The fans, the people, when they see you in town, they love talking to you. They love communicating with you. It's always about football. It's always about UK. So I love that. My previous place in Nashville it was about Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan. And I don't know much about them. But I damn sure know about football and that's what Lexington is about."

Davis probably feels that way about Nashville because Vanderbilt isn't the most popular college football team in town.

Instead, that honor goes to the Tennessee Vols, despite the fact that the program is based a couple of hours east in Knoxville.

Davis, who rushed for 1,042 yards with the Commodores last season, will return to Nashville on September 23 when Kentucky visits to take on Vanderbilt.

Vandy, by the way, beat the Wildcats in Lexington last season (Davis rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown in the win against Kentucky).

After making these comments, I wouldn't expect Davis to receive a warm welcome in his return to Nashville later this fall.
