Vanderbilt is a school supposedly known for their smarts.  What their men's basketball social media team did on Thursday evening was anything but that.

The Twitter/X account for Vanderbilt's men's basketball team posted a video of the ending of the game last year between the teams in Nashville.

For those that have washed the game in Nashville last year from their memories, Tennessee managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, falling 66-65 in a particularly disgusting manner if you're a Vol fan.

With the game tied with under a minute to go, former Vol Olivier Nkamhoua made a jumper to give Tennessee a 65-63 lead.  After a defensive rebound, Vanderbilt had to foul Tennessee five times to put the Vols in the bonus with under 10 seconds remaining.  Santiago Vescovi went to the free throw line with a chance to seal the game but missed the front end of the one and one.

The result was predictable and was the clip posted by Vandy's social media team.  After a timeout, Vandy's Ezra Manjon drove it to the baseline and kicked the ball out to the perimeter to Tyrin Lawrence, who for some reason was wide open.  He knocked the three down at the buzzer, and the Vols were beaten.

Certainly, that's a moment that Rick Barnes and the players would like to forget.  However, Vandy is doing what they can to make sure they don't.  While they're obviously trying to excite their fans for the game, it likely also sprinkles some salt in some open wounds of the players in orange who witnessed it in person.

We'll see soon enough if the Vols have an extra pep in their step when they face the Commodores at Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday at 6:00 pm ET.
