The Tennessee Vols will take on the Florida Gators on Saturday night in Gainesville.

Tennessee, which is unlikely to make the 12-team College Football Playoff this season, is looking for its first win in the Swamp since 2003.

Florida, meanwhile, is looking to salvage its season after failing to reach bowl eligibility for the second time in three years (the Gators’ loss to Ole Miss last week was their seventh of the season).

Voice of the Vols Mike Keith will be on the mic for the Vol Network on Saturday when Tennessee takes on the Gators in the Swamp.

Keith joined 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will on Thursday to preview the game and he made a personal admission about the Tennessee vs Florida rivalry that’s almost impossible to believe.

The former Voice of the Titans revealed that he’s never seen Tennessee beat Florida in person.

“I’ve been to three games in the Swamp,” said Keith. “I saw them also play Florida in 1976 in Knoxville and in 1984 in Knoxville. I have never seen Tennessee beat Florida in person. Because when I was part of the Vol Radio Network and Tennessee won in 1990 and 1992, I was the host of the scoreboard show. So I was on Kingston Pike. My favorite game in the series is the 1992 game, because of the bizarre rain that happened in the second half of that game.”

It’s hard to believe that Keith, who graduated from Tennessee and worked for the Vol Network before leaving for the Tennessee Titans in the late 1990’s, hasn’t seen the Vols beat the Gators in person.

But Florida and Tennessee didn’t start playing annually until 1990, and the Vols didn’t beat the Gators very often in the 90’s (Keith was preparing for a Tennessee Oilers game against the New England Patriots when Tennessee beat Florida in 1998). Keith spent his weekends with the Titans for the last quarter century until returning to the Vol Network this past offseason.

Maybe Keith will finally get to see a Tennessee win over Florida in person in Gainesville this weekend. Vols fans are certainly hoping that will be the case.
