With the Vols trailing 24-20, it looked like Tennessee had come up with a huge defensive stop.
Mississippi State, though, executed a momentum-shifting fake punt that gave the Bulldogs a first down near midfield.
On the next play, Vols defensive lineman Tyre West blew by Mississippi State’s left tackle and absolutely leveled Bulldogs quarterback Blake Shapen.
Tennessee defensive lineman Joshua Josephs scooped up the loose football and returned it for a touchdown, giving the Vols a 27-24 lead.

One of the best things about the 2025 Tennessee football season is getting to hear the new voice of the Vols, Mike Keith, put on a clinic in the booth each week.
Keith has already delivered some electric calls in his first few games as the voice of the Vols.
On Saturday in Starkville, Keith delivered a few more, including Joseph’s scoop and score.
Keith is as good as it gets. Vols fans are fortunate to have him on the mic calling games.
