Tennessee Vols 2024 signee Jordan Ross, a five-star edge rusher, received some praise this week for his performance during the second day of Polynesian Bowl practices.
(The Polynesian Bowl will be played on January 19 and will air on the NFL Network.)
247Sports pointed out Ross as one of the players that stood out on day two of practices thanks in part to his "dip and bend".
From 247Sports: Team Mauka did more with the lineman Tuesday and we had a chance to see Ross flash his immense potential. During team drills, he was in the backfield at will showing off a consistent get off and the ability to dip and bend. Like we said about a few other players, even going half speed through some of the drills, he just moves different from the other rush ends. We love the frame and like where Ross’ game is trending right now after a strong week at the Under Armour Next practices.
Ross, 6-foot-5/233 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama. He's also rated as the No. 11 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Alabama native has the potential to be a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball for the Vols. A lethal pass rush is a necessity for any program that hopes to compete for a national championship. And the addition of Ross gives Tennessee another talented pass rusher to pair with returning pass rushers such as James Pearce, Joshua Josephs, and Caleb Herring.
Tennessee is in good shape when it comes to getting to opposing quarterbacks.
