The Tennessee Volunteers continue to garner respect in the social media world. After their latest win over the Oklahoma Sooners, the Vols look quite impressive on both sides of the football.
A widely-known sports show host made a major proclamation for Tennessee to finish this year's college football season.
Colin Cowherd says the Vols will win the National Championship
The FOX show host has big beliefs for Josh Heupel's team. Cowherd says that the Vols have the best defense in the country.
Cowherd notes that he does not believe Georgia or Alabama is the top team in the SEC. That's a bit obvious if he believes in the Vols to win it all. Those two face off this weekend in the biggest CFB game of the 2024 season so far.
The long-time sports media member thinks the Vols are better than both of those powerhouses, though, and he will get proven right or wrong during the regular season.
The Vols will play both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs this season.
As for stats, Cowherd's strong opinion about the Vols' offense and defense are both backed up. Tennessee is fourth in offensive yards per game (569.5) and defensive yards allowed per game (188).
Josh Heupel's team is dominating on both sides of the gridiron, and Cowherd took notice. That being said, fellow analyst Joel Klatt did not agree with Cowherd's prediction of a national championship for the Vols this season.
The Vols are off this weekend, but they return to action on Saturday, October 5th, against Arkansas.
