Tennessee Vols linebacker Jeremy Banks announced on Saturday night that he's foregoing his final year of eligibility and entering the 2023 NFL Draft.

Banks, who had one year of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19-impacted 2020 season, also announced that he won't be playing in the Orange Bowl against Clemson.

The Tennessee native made the announcement via an Instagram post.

Banks also sent a message to fans and teammates via a Tweet.

What a ride, but here's to what's new! I want to thank my family and friends for always having my back," wrote Banks. "To my teammates, it’s an honor bro! 1Love from JB forever and always go hard while glorifying God! To the Knoxville community, I appreciate you guys for being a positive light. To the young athletes, growing up chasing this dream, among these 3 things will get you here faster than ever your education, hard work and discipline!"

Banks, who started his career as a running back at Tennessee before moving to linebacker, proved to be a key player for the Vols over the last few seasons. Banks always played hard, brought incredible energy, and helped lead the defense while on the field.

There's no doubt that Tennessee will miss Banks in the bowl game and next season as well.

With Banks moving on to the NFL, it makes the arrival of BYU transfer linebacker Keenan Pili that much more important. Pili could step right into Banks' role next season.
