The Tennessee Vols will always have a unique connection to the BCS.
Tennessee, after all, won the very first BCS championship way back in 1999 (for the 1998 season) via their 23-16 win against the Florida State Seminoles.
UT head coach Josh Heupel has his own connection to the BCS, too. Heupel led the Oklahoma Sooners to a win in the BCS national championship game in 2001 (for the 2000 season) in a win that also came against Florida State.
The last BCS championship game was played in early 2014 (with Florida State taking down Auburn) before the College Football Playoff was introduced.
While the BCS hasn't been around for over a decade, BCSKnowHow.com still puts together the BCS rankings each season just so folks can see what it would look like if the playoff had never been introduced.
Georgia, unsurprisingly, would be No. 1 after the first half of the 2023 season, followed by Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, and Oklahoma.
