If the Tennessee Vols are truly going to compete for a national championship in 2024, then they'll need quarterback Nico Iamaleava to play at a Heisman Trophy level.

That might seem like too much pressure to put on Iamaleava, who will be a redshirt freshman next fall, but it's hard to see the Vols winning it all for the first time since 1998 if he doesn't play at that level.

Oddsmakers, for what it's worth, are expecting Iamaleava to be right in the thick of the Heisman race next season.

The latest Heisman odds from FanDuel have Iamaleava with the sixth-best chance to win college football's top award in 2024.

Iamaleava is listed at 15-1 odds. The only quarterbacks with better odds are Carson Beck (Georgia), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), Will Howard (Ohio State), and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).

Iamaleava passed for 151 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns (one passing and three rushing) in a win against Iowa on New Year's Day in the Citrus Bowl in his first career collegiate start.

Iowa finished the 2023 season with the No. 4 scoring defense in the nation, making Nico's performance in his first career start even more impressive.
