The commentators in the Tennessee Vols vs Pittsburgh Panthers matchup on ABC committed the ultimate broadcast sin on Saturday night.

After the Vols' thrilling 34-27 overtime win, announcers Todd Blackledge and Sean McDonough were unaware that they were still on air on the ESPN stream.

The duo talked for almost a full minute while having no idea that viewers could hear their conversation.

Fortunately for them, they didn't say anything too bad. But they did mention how Pittsburgh had a storybook ending dialed up with the backup quarterback in the game plus the unfortunate passing of Panthers offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr's dad earlier on Saturday.

Here's the clip:

The first rule of broadcasting is to always assume the mic is hot. We've seen plenty of careers ruined because of hot mics. Blackledge and McDonough are fortunate that their "sin "didn't result in a moment that went viral for all the wrong reasons.
