Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings signed a two-year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.

Jennings signed the extension, which is worth up to $15.4 million (including $10.5 million guaranteed), in lieu of signing the second round restricted free agent tender that was placed on him by the 49ers earlier this offseason.

The extension means that Jennings will be in San Francisco for at least the next two seasons.

After signing his new deal with the 49ers, Jennings took to Instagram to send a message to fans.

"I am thankful beyond imagination," wrote Jennings on his Instagram story. "Big year on the way for 49ers fans."

The 49ers are one of the few teams in the NFL that have a legitimate chance to win a Super Bowl this upcoming season. And the mentality that Jennings brings to the field — playing with relentless effort for 60 minutes — is a big reason why San Francisco has what it takes to win a championship.

Keeping Jennings around was a no brainer for the 49ers. The former Vol may not light up the stat sheet, but he makes his presence felt on every down — even when he's not on the field.
