Tennessee Vols redshirt senior wide receiver Bru McCoy suffered a gruesome injury in the first half of UT's game against South Carolina.

McCoy appeared to suffer an ankle injury while fighting for extra yards. He was carted off the field and taken via ambulance to UT Medical Center.

Vols head coach Josh Heupel spoke to SEC Network's Cole Cubelic at halftime and he was asked about McCoy's status.

"Obviously doesn't look good," said Heupel. "Hate it for the kid. Not a better kid, not a tougher kid in the country."

McCoy had two catches for 21 yards before suffering the devastating injury.
