Derrick Ansley spent two seasons (2019 and 2020) as the Tennessee Vols' defensive coordinator.

Ansley, who was also a defensive backs coach at Tennessee in 2012 under then UT head coach Derek Dooley, was one of the assistants that wasn't retained after the 2020 season due to the Jeremy Pruitt recruiting scandal.

The former Vols defensive coordinator spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as the Los Angeles Chargers' defensive backs coach. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2023 (though Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, who was a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2012, called defensive plays until he was fired late in the 2023 season).

Ansley wasn't retained in Los Angeles after the Chargers hired former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh as their new head coach earlier this offseason.

Ansley, however, wasn't out of a job for long. He was hired last month by the Green Bay Packers to serve as the franchise's defensive pass game coordinator.

Ansley received a two-year show cause ban for his role in the recruiting scandal at Tennessee.
