Tennessee Vols fans deserve a lot of credit this week for the way they showed out for a noon home game against the Missouri Tigers.

In the college football world, noon games are viewed as an advantage for the visiting team.

The idea is that crowds aren't as wild at noon as they are for a late afternoon game or a night game. That of course makes things easier on the visiting team.

That's why numerous analysts have pointed out that Tennessee's win against LSU in Baton Rouge was at 11:00 AM CT and not at night (though I don't think the time of day matters much when the final score is 40-13).

Death Valley certainly wasn't as intimidating as normal when the Vols visited in October, but part of that was because there was a definite orange tint to the crowd.

Tennessee fans get loud for noon home game at Neyland

Tennessee's noon home game against Missouri wasn't a typical noon home game.

It was loud. Really loud.

Missouri wide receiver Barrett Banister, who was actually on Mizzou's roster when Josh Heupel was the Tigers' offensive coordinator in 2017, told reporters after the game that the Vols fans were quite loud.

“It was loud no doubt about it, but these atmospheres aren’t going away,” said Banister.

Missouri had 14 penalties for 120 yards in the 66-24 loss. Many of those penalties were false starts.

Just listen to how loud the Neyland crowd was when one false start penalty was announced.

There isn't a better fan base in college football than Tennessee's.

That's a bold statement, but Vols fans have proven it all season long.
