On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals traded veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings needed another quarterback in the wake of the torn Achilles that Kirk Cousins suffered last weekend in Minnesota's win against the Green Bay Packers.

It's the second time that Dobbs has been traded in the last two months. Just before the start of the season, the Cleveland Browns traded Dobbs to the Cardinals.

Dobbs, who has been in the NFL since 2017 after a standout collegiate career with the Tennessee Vols, made his first two career starts last season with the Tennessee Titans. The former Vol started the first eight games of the 2023 season for the Cardinals, going 1-7 in those starts (Dobbs played well despite the rough record).

So will Dobbs start on Sunday in the Vikings' game against the Atlanta Falcons?

It looks like the answer is no.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced on Tuesday that Minnesota plans to start rookie quarterback Jaren Hall against Atlanta.

O'Connell didn't completely shut the door on Dobbs playing this week against Atlanta. He said it's possible that Dobbs could see the field on Sunday.

A year ago, Dobbs started for the Titans just eight days after he was signed off the Detroit Lions' practice squad, so he has experience digesting a playbook quickly (it also helps that he's an astrophysicist, so the intelligence level is quite high).
