Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel had a hard time with one specific official in the Orange Bowl on Friday night.
Early in Tennessee's win against Clemson, Heupel was flagged for a penalty for something he said to an official.
Jomboy, the internet legend who is known as the best lip reader around, deciphered that Heupel was complaining about how long it was taking the officials to spot the ball and declare it ready for play.
The official who flagged Heupel for the penalty dramatically threw his flag after hearing the complaint from Tennessee's head coach.
That flag throw looks like the official was taking things personally.
Later in the game, after Clemson called a timeout before a punt, Heupel walked onto the field and that same official went straight to him to cut him off. The official then oddly walked Heupel back to the sideline.
Check it out:
It seemed like that official had it out for Heupel all night.
Though I'm sure Heupel was giving him (and the rest of the crew) the business all night, too. Clemson got away with an inordinate amount of holding.
We even saw a Clemson offensive lineman ride a Tennessee defensive lineman like an airplane.
I'm not kidding.
Ultimately, the Vols won the game and that's all that matters. But the Big 10 officiating crew that called the Orange Bowl was easily one of the worst crews I saw all season in college football.
