We still have several months until Tennessee basketball will take the floor this fall, but it's never too early to see how the Vols are viewed by the national media.
247Sports revealed their updated 2022-23 rankings this week and they have Tennessee as the No. 11 ranked team in the nation.
Here's their top 10 ahead of the Vols.
- Arkansas
- Kentucky
- Houston
- North Carolina
- Baylor
- Gonzaga
- Duke
- Kansas
- UCLA
- TCU
And here's what 247Sports had to say about Tennessee this upcoming season:
If Santiago Vescovi comes back to pair with Zakai Zeigler and Josiah-Jordan James and Indiana State transfer Tyreke Key, this is a backcourt with plenty of firepower. And that could be vital for a team that could be among the nation’s best defensive squads. Whether Tennessee has the pieces to get past the NCAA Tournament bugaboo will rely somewhat on what the Volunteers get at the 4/5 spots, though Tennessee has pieces there.
Losing Kennedy Chandler certainly hurts, but the Vols still have plenty of talent to make another SEC Tournament run.
The presence of Zakai Zeigler, who proved to be a key pickup for the Vols last season, will help offset the loss of Chandler. Zeigler was as important as anyone to Tennessee's success last season.
