It was an up-and-down season for Billy Napier in his first year as the head coach of the Florida Gators.
Florida went 6-7 with wins against Utah and South Carolina and they also had a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt.
Gators fans were likely hoping for a better season, but year one as a head coach at a program always comes with some unique challenges.
It's certainly too early to judge Napier and make a prediction on how his time at Florida will go.
But that didn't stop folks from roasting Napier and the Gators on social media this weekend after a video was tweeted that showed a Florida defender giving minimal effort against Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl.
The game was only 10-0 at that point, so it's not like this happened at the end of the game when it was essentially over.
It's easy to see this video and think that Florida's culture is bad under Napier. But I don't think that's a fair takeaway from one clip, though it definitely looks bad.
I can understand why opposing fan bases are giving Napier and Florida a hard time after seeing this video. However, I can also understand why Gators fans are annoyed by the idea that their program's culture is bad because of one viral clip.
We'll see in the coming years if this moment in Florida's loss to Oregon State was a sign that Napier wasn't the answer for the Gators. But for now, we'll just have to wait and see before making any major judgments on Napier.
