Former New England Patriots tight end Mike Gesicki is signing a 1-year, $3.25 million free-agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Gesicki spent the 2023 season with the Patriots, finishing with 29 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns across 17 games. His most memorable moment came during New England's matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.
Quarterback Mac Jones was able to lead an impressive two minute drive that resulted in a game winning touchdown.
The drive began after Jones sent a short pass to Rhamondre Stevenson who ran it for a 34-yard gain. Hunter Henry hauled in a 14-yard catch for another first down, and Stevenson followed it up with a 10 yard run. The Bills were flagged for defensive pass interference with 23 seconds remaining, putting New England in even better field position.
With 15 seconds on the clock, Jones found Gesicki in the back of the end zone for a one-yard touchdown, which was the perfect way to end the game on National Tight End Day.
And Gesicki's griddy celebration was one to remember.
The Bills were left with seconds on the clock and on their final play of the game, quarterback Josh Allen fumbled the ball with Brendan Schooler recovering. This solidified the win for the Patriots.
But other than this one game, Gesicki put up the worst numbers of his career dating back to his rookie season.
He was first drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Gesicki stayed in Miami for five seasons, before signing with the Patriots.
And now he is headed to Cincinnati.
