After getting drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round with the 110th overall pick, Javon Baker took a moment to speak with the local media and introduce himself.
Specifically when asked what the fans can expect from him, Baker dropped one of the best quotes that truly shows his confidence and desire to get on then field.
"Come to the home stadium and bring your popcorn," Baker said. "That’s all I can tell you all. Bring your popcorn — I make people in wheelchairs stand up.”
He is promising some major miracles this season, and it helps that he already has a connection with new Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. When Maye was committed to Alabama and Baker was there, they had throwing sessions together.
And Baker made a bold prediction about Maye's potential.
"I think, in my opinion, he's the best quarterback in this draft," Baker said. "A competitive quarterback. And that's what I like in my quarterback. Somebody that can push me and I push him."
He also said that immediately after he was drafted, Maye reached out and expressed how excited he was to have him join the team. Plus he send a very specific message: "Let’s get to work.”
Immediately after the Patriots took him, he went on Instagram Live and said that he thought that took way too long for him to get drafted, but he also believes the Patriots were the perfect spot from him.
So he has a chip on his shoulder and is ready to get going.
One thing is for sure: Baker is going to be very fun to watch next season.
