FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots season has not gone as anyone hoped. And the six Super Bowl championships seem so long ago.
But one member from the Dynasty returned to Gillette Stadium for the Patriots final game of the 2023 season against the New York Jets.
Josh McDaniels was spotted entering the VIP gate prior to the game .
The former Patriots offensive coordinator returned to where his career first began.
McDaniels was hired as a personal assistant in the organization in 2001, moving to defensive assistant and then quarterbacks coach. In 2006, he was officially named offensive coordinator, but left in 2009 to take the head coaching job with the Denver Broncos.
His stint there didn't last long, and McDaniels took a job with the St. Louis Rams as their offensive coordinator in 2011 before returning to the Patriots in 2012 as the offensive coordinator once again. He stayed until 2022, taking a job as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
But one again, that didn't work out.
Across his time with the Patriots, McDaniels helped lead the team to six Super Bowl championships. And he proved to be a pivotal part, leading a dominate offense with Tom Brady.
Under McDaniels, Mac Jones also had a solid rookie season, but once he left and it was Matt Patricia and Joe Judge leading the way, things took a serious decline for the quarterback.
With McDaniels currently out of a job and Bill Belichick's future so uncertain, maybe a reunion is possible.
Patriots hit Mac Jones with final nail in coffin
That’s very telling.
