The 2024 NFL Combine has officially ended. So with that, some players' draft stock has risen while other players have fallen.
And after picking the New England Patriots' best Round 1 draft targets, it's time to take a look at Round 2.
All reports seem to indicate that the Patriots are going to select a quarterback in the first round, so in the second round, they need to address some of the other offensive issues. And at the top of that list are wide receivers and offensive tackles.
The Patriots should select Georgia WR Ladd McConkey with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
There is a chance that Ladd McConkey's efforts during the Senior Bowl and the Scouting Combine could move him up to a first-round draft pick. But if he does make it to the second round, this should be someone the Patriots immediately snag.
A to Z Sports' Kelsey Kramer perfectly summed up McConkey's results at the Combine.
McConkey first ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash before pulling off an astonishing official 4.39-second 40 on his final attempt, which is tied for third among all wide receivers tied for sixth among all players to run the 40 this week.
McConkey also had a 10-foot-4 broad jump and a 36-inch vertical jump.
And because of that, he was compared to 2022 first-round pick Garrett Wilson.
Oh and also Puka Nuka.
This is a huge green flag. So let's make him a Patriot.
Filling another offensive need
In his latest three round mock draft, A to Z Sports' Destin Adams has the Patriots selecting an offensive tackle, drafting Arizona's Jordan Morgan.
He impressed, showing off his speed during the NFL Combine, running an unofficial 5.05-second 40-yard dash.
And with so much uncertainty with Mike Onwenu right now, tackle is a key position for New England.
Final Word
With the third overall pick, many fans hope that they will take the next franchise quarterback. So in the second round they should look for a receiver.
Bringing in a talented rookie along with an established veteran into that room could lead to a lot of success. And Ladd McConkey impressed many, so he could bring a lot to this offense.
