While Jack Jones' NFL future has been uncertain since his arrest in June, the legal situation has officially been settled.

MassLive's Chris Mason reports that the DA has dropped the charges against Jones after he agreed to one year of pre-trial probation and 48 hours of community service.

Jones was arrested on June 16 at Boston Logan International Airport for trying to bring two loaded firearms on a plane. He was arraigned in East Boston Municipal Court the following week, pleading not guilty to the charges.

He was being charged with two counts of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

While he was due back in court on Aug. 18, it was continued until Sept. 15. However, they then moved it up to Tuesday morning, agreeing on a deal.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo spoke to Jones' attorney Rosemary Scapicchi following the news.

"Jack is grateful to have the case resolved and is looking forward to playing football," Scapicchi told Garafolo.

Jones could still face discipline from the NFL, but this news eliminates any fear that the cornerback might have had to face jail time.

At the beginning of August, Jones was asked about the uncertainty of his future and he gave a very candid answer.

“I mean, every day you’re worried about your future on any team because this league is very liquid,” Jones said. “You could be here today and gone tomorrow on any team so you just have to go out there and participate. Availability is the best ability.”

Jones has been in attendance for all of the preseason and is expected to be a key part to the defense this season.
