The Miami Dolphins received some bad news on Thursday after the details of Jalen Ramsey's injury were revealed.
Ramsey had to be carted off the field during training camp on Thursday after breaking up a pass intended for Tyreek Hill and colliding with the receiver. NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported that trainers were attending to his left knee.
Now more information has come to light about the details and timetable for Ramsey's injury.
ESPN Adam Schefter first reported that Ramsey "will undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the start of the regular season." Wolfe added that it is a torn meniscus.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero added to the reports, saying that he will be out for at least six to eight weeks.
"Doctors will determine whether to remove the meniscus or repair it, which would be a much longer recovery," Pelissero wrote.
However, there is one positive for the Dolphins, with Schefter further reporting that the Ramsey's ACL is intact, meaning he should be able to return to the field before the end of the season.
The Dolphins traded for Ramsey during the offseason, with the cornerback elevating the defense and expected to make Miami a tough competitor in the AFC East.
Yet now they will have to come up with a new game plan, finding a way to replace the massive hole Ramsey leaves behind.
