A lot of the blame has fallen on Bill Belichick's shoulders this season after the New England Patriots have gotten out to a 1-5 start. And because of that, many have been speculating that his time in Foxborough might be over.

But that is not the case.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Belichick and the Patriots quietly agreed on a multi-year contract extension prior to the 2023 season.

"With the Patriots struggling as they never really have, Bill Belichick's job security has somehow been a topic in New England. As you just heard, would Robert Kraft make a move mid season? Would he make a move at all? Now my understanding is he is not inclined to make a move mid season, but allow me to add some news," Rapoport said on NFL GameDay on Sunday morning. "Sources say Bill Belichick during the offseason quietly agreed to terms on a lucrative multi-year new contract. His contract, one of the most closely held secrets in New England.

"I think it was fair to say there was some at least uncertainty or intrigue surrounding him," Rapoport added. "Now, contractually he is locked up long-term."

While the Patriots have clearly struggled this season, there is no arguing that Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time. And with this latest report, it seems fairly clear that any changes the team looks to make going forward will not involve the head coach.

So one thing is set despite the poor performance this season: Bill Belichick isn't going anywhere.
