Jack Jones is entering his second year with the New England Patriots and one former player has some high expectations for the cornerback.

However, Jones is also facing some legal troubles, making his status for the upcoming season uncertain.

“He has all the potential in the world. Hopefully he keeps his head on his shoulders and makes smart decisions on and off the football field. He can be a top corner in this league [and] reminds me of a young J.C. Jackson.” James White said on Sirius XM NFL Radio (via ESPN's Mike Reiss).

Jones showed a lot of promise in his rookie season, ending with 30 total tackles (25 solo), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, and one touchdown across 13 games.

During the offseason, Jones was arrested for trying to bring two loaded firearms on the plane at Boston Logan International Airport. The firearms were found in Jones' carry-on luggage and Massachusetts State Police were called to Terminal B when the items were recognized.

Jones is being charged with two counts of each of the following offenses:

– Possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport.

– Possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card.

– Unlawful possession of a firearm.

– Carrying a loaded firearm.

– Possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Jones was arraigned on June 20, with his attorney Rosemary Scapicchio saying that "He had no intention of brining any guns into Logan Airport that day."

White is the latest to voice his support for Jones, with Matthew Judon, Jonathan Jones, and Jalen Mills also backing their teammate.
