New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is on the scouting trail, and his stop Thursday was at TCU to see two potential playmakers.

Belichick spent time with TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston, a potential first-round pick, and running back Kendre Miller, a mid-round pick who injured his MCL in the Horned Frogs’ playoff win over Michigan.

Miller, who’s 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, carried the ball 224 times for 1,399 yards with 17 touchdowns in 2022. He added 16 catches for 116 yards through the air. Miller didn’t work out at the NFL Scouting Combine or at his pro day due to the injury.

Johnston is 6-foot-3, 208 pounds, and he was clocked between 4.46 and 4.52 seconds in his 40-yards dash at Thursday’s pro day. He registered a 40.5-inch vertical leap and 11-feet, 2-inch broad jump at the combine.

Johnston, 21, caught 60 passes for 1,069 yards with six touchdowns last season at TCU. He recorded 115 catches for 2,190 yards with 14 touchdowns in his three-year college career.

The Patriots don't have a significant need at running back with Rhamondre Stevenson, James Robinson, Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris, Ty Montgomery and J.J. Taylor on the roster. They could use one more high-upside wide receiver, however. They've spent time with other top wide receiver prospects in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Zay Flowers and Jordan Addison.
