Let's get into your questions in this mailbag.

Do you expect the Patriots to elevate practice squad players for the Cowboys game? If so, who?

I would be very surprised if the Patriots don't elevate Jeremiah Pharms Jr. prior to Sunday's game. With Daniel Ekuale placed on injured reserve with a season ending injury, New England is in need of additional help on the defensive line and while they recently signed DL Manny Jones to the practice squad, Pharms has more experience in the system and can help stop a dominant Cowboys offense.

Who do you expect will be inactive for the Cowboys game and why?

At this moment, I think there is a strong possibility that Cole Strange will be inactive. He was very limited during Thursday's media attended portion of practice after leaving last game with a knee injury. Because of that, I think it's unlikely that either he will be healthy enough to play or that the Patriots will risk him getting more banged up.

Do you believe Mac can be our guy if we give him quality weapons?

Everyone has their individual beliefs about Mac Jones. I believe their should be one overarching belief shared by everyone regarding Jones: that he can't be fairly judged until he has the chance to work with some high-end talent. The Patriots are lacking offensive playmakers, and there are only a few quarterbacks who could potentially elevate the current offensive personnel. For more than half a decade, the Patriots have needed a truly elite playmaker, and now, the offensive line has become a liability. The odds are stacked against him, and he is set up for failure. Only time will tell if New England adapts and finally pursues elite talent, or if they continue to rely on outdated strategies to build their roster. Regarding your question about him being "our guy", my answer is yes. I tend to believe that Mac Jones can become a quality starter with untapped potential, which we have not seen due to the handcuffs placed on him. -Tanner James

Why is Mac still the starting quarterback?

The Patriot's do not have a better QB on the roster. – Tanner James

Can we score more than 15 points against the Cowboys?

It is going to be tough to have a good offensive game against one of the premier defenses in the league, but one can hope. – Tanner James

With the Dolphins starting the season off in such a historic way, does this diminish the end goal for the Patriot's season? Instead of winning the league (which was a stretch to start), is the focus now a wild-card spot? Finish with above a .500 win percentage?

I don't think anyone truly thought they were going to win the division, with each team being very competitive. Even without knowing that the Miami Dolphins were going to start the season in this historic way, the Buffalo Bills have been at the top of the division and they didn't show signs of stopping. Because of that, I think the top goal for the Patriots was to make the playoffs, potentially clinching a wild card spot. They have proven that they can compete with top teams in this league, but what's lacking is finishing and getting into the end zone.

What happens when Thornton returns? Will they place Boute on the PUP list?

Boutte hasn't appeared on the injury report and has been a healthy scratch during the last two games. Because of that and with Tyquan Thornton getting closer to returning, I do think Thornton will take the rookie receivers spot. What's next for Boutte is tough to guess at this moment.

How will they address the defensive line issues?

The main issue on the defensive line is the injuries, and with Ekuale out for the season, they need additional help. They have some options on the practice squad that could fill that spot, which seems to be the plan at the minute. Guess we'll see how they hold up on Sunday.
