Kendrick Bourne is a fan of DeAndre Hopkins

FOXBORO, Mass. – The addition of DeAndre Hopkins could mean the end of the road for one New England Patriots receiver, but despite the possibility of more competition, Kendrick Bourne is focused on how the star receiver can help his team win,

"I'm a fan of D-Hop," Bourne said. "It'd be cool. I don't really know the gist of what's going on, but ya he's a great player."

Hopkins is a player that Bourne looked up to while he developed early in his career, noticing the way he conducts himself as a leader.

And when asked if he would like to play alongside Hopkins, Bourne's answer was simple: "that'd be cool."

"Great player," Bourne said. "So anything that'll help us win I'm with."

Bourne even added an additional pitch to get the star receiver to join the Patriots.

"Come on through. We need any help we can get to win," Bourne said.

However if Hopkins were to join the ranks, it leaves the question of which receiver would be let go. The Patriots are known to usually keep five receivers on the active roster, but currently have nine without Hopkins.

It is fairly certain the Juju Smith-Schuster's spot is safe, and Tyquan Thornton has had a strong showing in OTAs already, but that leaves three other spots.

Based on Hopkins desire for a contract similar to Odell Beckham Jr., the Patriots would ideally look to trade or release a player that would save them money in cap space.

And although he is a big fan, Bourne is one of the receivers on the list, with the Patriots able to save $5.5 million in cap if they were to trade or release him, but would have $1.4 million in dead-cap money.

There is also the possibility of trading or releasing DeVante Parker who would save up to $6.2 million with $0 in dead-cap money.

Yet, regardless of this chance, Bourne was excited about the prospect of adding Hopkins – and he wasn't the only player.

Adrian Phillips was asked about what stands out to him about Hopkins and he gave just a one word response at first: "Hands"

"He catches everything. His whole highlight reel is one handed and stuff like that. A physical guy and he's able to turn it on at any moment," Phillips added.

Yet, he did not comment on the reports of Hopkins visiting the Patriots next week.

"No I can't really talk about that. You trying to get me," Phillips said with a smile."

The Patriots are one of two teams that Hopkins has scheduled visits with, as the receiver is also set to meet with the Tennessee Titans

Now fans must wait to find out what jersey will Hopkins be in this coming season.
