Patriots to make a push for DeAndre Hopkins

The Patriots visit with DeAndre Hopkins seemed to go very well and New England is still in the running to land the receiver.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe provided an update on the situation following the visit.

"The Patriots are making a push for Hopkins, per source. He has departed Gillette Stadium but is still local," Howe wrote on Twitter.

Fox Sport's Henry McKenna confirmed Howe's report.

"The Patriots feel they had a successful visit with DeAndre Hopkins and a deal is realistic, per source. Everything is moving the right direction," McKenna wrote.

It was reported by Howe earlier in the week that the Patriots will attempt to find "common ground" with DeAndre Hopkins and that there is "optimism the two sides can find a way to reach an agreement."

That optimism has not gone away following the visit, even though there is reportedly no deal currently in place.

Hopkins arrived at the facility on Wednesday, with the visit spanning two days, going into Thursday. This marked his second visit since being released by the Arizona Cardinals, first traveling to visit the Tennessee Titans.

It was reported on Thursday that the Titans made an offer to the receiver, but these new reports seem to favor the Patriots chances of signing the receiver.

Hopkins wasn't shy about his visit to New England, posting a photo on his Instagram story alongside Matthew Judon in the locker room and wrote "La Familia."

Hopkins would be a huge addition to the Patriots offense, adding a star weapon for Mac Jones. It's now a waiting game to see how much New England is willing to give the receiver.
