With the final New England Patriots minicamp practice canceled, all eyes will be on DeAndre Hopkins’ scheduled visit to Gilllette Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Patriots are Hopkins’ second free-agent visit. There’s optimism a deal can be reached, per The Athletic’s Jeff Howe.

But what price would the Patriots have to pay for the five-time Pro Bowl selection?

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer appeared on NBC Sports Boston and said he’d expect Hopkins to sign for somewhere between $8 and $10 million in base salary with incentives that will “get him closer to the number he was originally scheduled to make.” Hopkins was originally set to make over $19 million this season before getting cut by the Arizona Cardinals.

If Hopkins signs with the Patriots, it would make sense for his APY to be higher than JuJu Smith-Schuster’s. Smith-Schuster signed a three-year, $25.5 million contract this offseason at $8.5 million per year. Hopkins is still a better player than Smith-Schuster and would come in as the Patriots' projected top pass-catcher.

New England has nearly $14.8 million in salary cap space. They could make moves at wide receiver to clear more cap room for Hopkins, as well.
