This New Orleans Saints team started the season terribly on the offensive side of the ball, but thankfully it has gotten better. That is a huge reason they started 1-3, and are now 3-5.
It also doesn't help that they have had more injuries than nearly any other team, too.
Since Andy Dalton has taken over as the full-time starting quarterback over Jameis Winston, there is a noticeable change. The offense just looks so much better, and the ball moves more efficiently.
"We have been so good at being balanced and being able to be really good on first and second downs," Dalton said. "Getting those positive gains allows us to be in third and manageable situations, I think.
"We have been running the ball really well, and that has allowed us to be in those manageable situations. I think at the end of the day you can look at our offense and say we have been really efficient with everything we have been able to do."
The Saints have suddenly turned things around, just when we thought they couldn't. Fans were starting to talk about the draft. Yeah, that is how bad it was getting.
Now, just like that, the Saints are just one game back of the NFC South's top spot. A lot of that has to do with how the offense has changed things around. Well, and because the division just stinks.
The offense was shooting itself in the foot constantly. They had a ton of false start calls and holding, among others, which would put them in third and long situations.
They were also trying too hard to run the offense a different way than what it was designed to do. This offense was designed to run through Alvin Kamara, and it has been the last few weeks.
Dalton has been great Yeah, he has had some head-scratching moments, but he is another huge reason this team is now 3-5.
