The New Orleans Saints took another loss on Thursday Night Football against a struggling Arizona Cardinals team.

It was the same story as it has been all season.

At some point, it isn't just bad luck or unfortunate. Turnovers and penalties are simply just a trend for the Saints. That relates back to coaching at its core.

The Saints continue to shoot themselves in the foot.

Between unforced turnovers and costly penalties on third down, they have no shot against teams that can move the ball on a very injured defensive unit.

Not to mention, their play-calling on offense has been suspect at times. The Saints did not use Taysom Hill or Alvin Kamara on a crucial red zone trip early in the third quarter that could have changed the game.

They also continue to make peculiar play calls near mid-field on first and second down.

They continue to out themselves in difficult situations on both sides of the football.

For some reason, the Saints' coaches expect different results.

Now, they sit at 2-5. With a few difference in their last handful of games, they could be 5-2 or 4-3. Instead, the NFC South is almost guaranteed to be out of reach at this point between there Buccaneers and Falcons.

At times like this, the head coach has to be held to a certain standard. The blame game is a rough one to play, but the Saints have been sloppy under Dennis Allen so far.

The Saints expected to see consistency and stability when they kept Dennis Allen on staff. He was a players' favorite during the hiring process. That has not come to fruition to say the least.

Sure, there have been a plethora of injuries.

The Saints were starting veteran Chris Harris Jr. and rookie Alontae Taylor tonight at cornerback after Bradley Roby got hurt. Harris Jr. has jumped from practice squad to practice squad over the past year.

On offense, the Saints were without WRs Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry once again. Excuses are running thin, though.

Other teams in the NFL are injured and overcoming it. For example, the Giants and Titans are two of the most injured squads in the NFL.

Unlike the Saints, they both have a winning record. At the end of the day, the Saints have to play cleaner and protect the football.

They have proven that they cannot do that so far during the Dennis Allen tenure.
