One of the biggest questions for the New Orleans Saints is at the running back position. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are the lead backs, and Dwayne Washington is supplanted as a depth RB for his performances on special teams. Who will be the other running back on the roster to begin the season?

The Saints made a move on Sunday that narrows down the choices. They cut RB Devine Ozigbo. Ozigbo had played fairly well in the first two preseason games, but the Saints have opted to keep rookie Abram Smith and veteran Tony Jones Jr. instead of him.

Jones Jr. almost certainly has the lead in the race right now. He got limited carries this weekend against the Packers but made two big plays on special teams. Jones Jr. broke a long run against Green Bay that was very impressive.

He's also the more patient runner of the two. Not to mention, he is a veteran presence for the Saints. The Saints normally lean towards those players at RB.

Abram Smith still has a shot, though. This next week will determine if he makes the opening week roster for the Saints or not. The move to release Ozigbo has made the race for the final RB spot even tighter.
