The New Orleans Saints have plethora of injuries along their offensive line.

This past week against the Baltimore Ravens made that very clear. Not to mention, it added to the injury count as well.

Erik McCoy left the game with an injury.

That means that the Saints could be without two of their interior offensive linemen this week against the Steelers. McCoy and offensive guard Andrus Peat remain on the injury report.

Alas, they did receive some good news on Thursday.

The Saints designated rookie OT Trevor Penning to return from injured reserve.

James Hurst has played alright in the place of Penning, but the Saints hope that their rookie OT is a piece for the future on their OL.

For the Saints, this gives them a few weeks to ease Penning back into action. Hopefully, his recovery finishes well, and he is back to full strength for them for the final quarter of the season.

Hurst may continue to start. However, the return of Penning would give New Orleans much-needed depth at tackle.

This is something to monitor over the next couple of weeks for Saints' fans.

Don't expect Penning to play this week, but his return could be sooner rather than later.

The Saints needed positive news this week as injuries pile up. They got it with Penning.
