There weren't too many negatives to take away from the coaching in the New Orleans Saints' Week 9 win over the Chicago Bears. One blip on the radar was Alvin Kamara's usage, though.
Kamara played only 49% of snaps for the Saints, raising some questions among fans.
Is he hurt? Do the Saints not trust him enough? Was he showing frustration?
Those questions have all been brought to the table, but there is no substance to any of them. There's a good chance that the Saints simply ran more personnel looks with Taysom Hill as the main running threat on Sunday, and that affected Kamara's snap count in a big way.
Kamara was not on the injury report entering the game. It is worth keeping an eye on whether or not he pops up on this week's report with any sort of ailment.
Not to mention, New Orleans has often used Jamaal Williams in short-yardage situations, and he was effective in those spots against Chicago.
All in all, the reaction is probably just that – a reaction to information. In a sense, fans will find any way to dissect a win, and Kamara was noticeably in the game less often for New Orleans in Week 9. That was not normal for a close game like that one against the Bears.
Don't pull the panic alarm yet, Saints fans. Kamara's lowered snap count in Week 9 may only keep him fresher as the Saints enter their final matchup before their bye week.
There's still plenty of season left for New Orleans, and they are in a good spot to make a run for the NFC South. They need Kamara at full strength to do so.
