The New Orleans Saints had to do some retooling on their defensive line and did so by drafting defensive tackle Bryan Bresee and edge rusher Isaiah Foskey in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. However, one guy will be back for a 13th season.

Cam Jordan has been terrorizing quarterbacks since 2011 and it's led to three All-Pro selections and eight Pro Bowls including each of the last six seasons. He is in the final year of his contract, though, so his future beyond 2023 has some uncertainty.

Doug Hendrickson, Jordan's agent, recently told the Associated Press that he hopes to get a deal for Jordan done by training camp with the length being at least two seasons. Jordan, who wants to retire with the Saints, spoke on what his future holds.

"If we get a deal done, that'll be probably the final years of my career here," Jordan said, via the Associated Press. "Whatever happens, happens. In terms of how we play, how we want to attack offenses, that's what I'm here for."

Jordan has been the model of consistency throughout his career. Other than his rookie campaign, Jordan has never registered less than 7.5 sacks per season, and he had 8.5 in 2022. So, despite getting up there in age, he's still performing at a high level.

The loss of edge rusher Marcus Davenport in free agency is what led to the Saints picking Foskey in the second round to play alongside Jordan. He has a ton of potential due to his athleticism, his bend on the edge, and his high motor, plus he can play on the defensive line or in the box.

New Orleans re-signed Tanoh Kpassagnon to a two-year deal back in February. He along with Foskey will be a part of a rotation, but make no mistake about it, Jordan isn't in the business of not being the primary guy.

“I had a talk with myself maybe a year or two ago, and I don’t have the ability to do a not-playing role," Jordan said.

There's little chance of that happening. Jordan is still a force, and his mentorship to Foskey, Bresee, and the rest of the Saints' defense will be key in 2023 as the Saints try to make the playoffs for the first time in three years.

The Saints should get Jordan signed to an extension and secure his production for at least a few more seasons soon.
